I had to vote in the Minnesota Idea Open Challenge once I read about the Soul Patch community garden in Little Falls, MN. Call it home town loyalty or call it gardener bias if you like, but I think that community is on to something. With donations and volunteers, they produced over 2000 pounds of produce for patrons of the local food shelf.
Wow, that's a lot of produce.
Many that need the help of food banks don't get (or won't spend extra) to get fresh fruit or veggies, so this is a super idea that more communities should do…I think they do in Bisbee/Cottonwood.
